Course Description

Families of babies and children with Down Syndrome – are mealtimes a challenge? The Virtual Feeding Class is here to provide you with the tools, strategies, and personalized support needed to help your child thrive.

This 4-week recorded program is designed specifically for children with Down syndrome, aged 6 months and up, to improve feeding skills, muscle function, and mealtime success.

This Class is Ideal For Children Who:
– Struggle to chew food or chew incompletely
– Have limited diets due to oral muscle challenges
– Experience tongue protrusion, thrusting, or open mouth posture
– Need help learning to drink from a straw or cup
– Can’t retract or lateralize their tongue effectively
– Have low muscle tone, strength, or oral sensation
– Face mealtime frustrations like gagging, choking, or texture aversions
– Are transitioning from a G-tube to oral feeding

Heather Vukelich, MS, CCC-SLP

Heather Vukelich, MS, CCC-SLP is an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Feeding Specialist with over 23 years of experience dedicated to the Down syndrome community. She spent 15 years with the Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area and has been part of this community since childhood.

Heather serves families in Paso Robles and Danville, California, specializing in oral sensory-motor development, speech clarity, feeding, and functional communication. She is a certified TalkTools® Instructor personally trained by founder Sara Rosenfeld-Johnson, and leads webinars, parent education courses, and 1:1 week-long intensive therapy programs.

She has also completed advanced orofacial myofunctional training through The Breathe Institute, expanding her expertise in airway health and craniofacial development. Heather works with individuals from birth through adulthood, supporting families across speech, feeding, orthodontics, sleep, literacy, sensory integration, and more.

Her mission: equipping families with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to help their children communicate clearly, eat safely, and live with greater independence.
