Gina VanDeusen

MA,CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Background

Gina VanDeusen, MA, CCC-SLP, is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist licensed in Maine and Massachusetts. She provides in-person services in Brunswick, Maine, and offers teletherapy across both Maine and Massachusetts. With a holistic, evidence-based approach, Gina supports individuals and families in addressing a wide range of communication, feeding, and swallowing challenges.

Her current areas of interest include pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders, along with myofunctional therapy. Her expertise spans breast and bottle feeding, transitioning to solid foods, picky or selective eating, tethered oral tissues (tongue and lip ties), orofacial myofunctional disorders, oral habits (e.g. prolonged pacifier use and thumb sucking), feeding tube management/transitioning, airway health, ARFID, and other feeding challenges in infants and children. Myofunctional concerns she commonly addresses include tongue thrust, open mouth posture, mouth breathing, improper tongue resting posture, difficulty chewing and swallowing, speech sound errors, jaw pain (TMD/TMJ), and the downstream effects of restricted oral tissues on sleep, airway, and facial development.

Beyond feeding and myofunctional therapy, Gina is highly skilled in evaluating and treating a variety of speech and language needs. These include language delays, articulation and phonological disorders, voice disorders, cognitive-communication concerns (such as after traumatic or acquired brain injury), augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), motor speech disorders, and fluency disorders across the lifespan. As both a mother and a seasoned SLP, Gina brings a unique perspective, combining clinical expertise with lived experience. Although she has long specialized in pediatric swallowing, her passion deepened when her own toddler was born with a tongue and lip tie that impacted function. This personal experience further ignited her dedication to all things pediatric feeding, swallowing, and myofunctional therapy.

Gina is passionate about helping families confidently navigate the early years by offering practical strategies, developmental insight, and individualized support to address impaired function and promote growth. She regularly attends national conferences, completes continuing education courses, and has earned the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE) three times.

Gina received her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from The George Washington University and graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor’s of science in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Studies from the University of New Hampshire.

Above all, Gina believes that exceptional care is rooted in both clinical excellence and heartfelt compassion. She takes a whole-body, whole-individual approach, recognizing that every individual and every family deserve to feel truly seen and supported.

She has provided services across the lifespan in a variety of settings, including private practice, outpatient rehab, acute care, public and private schools, preschools, skilled nursing facilities, and telehealth.
