Course Description
Starting Solids Class: Feel Ready, Safe & Excited
This 60-minute in-person workshop is designed for parents of babies aged 6-10 months who want to feel confident, calm, and genuinely ready for this next feeding milestone.
We meet monthly at The Bunny Hive in Hoboken. Babies can sit in provided floor seats and explore foods while you learn.
2026 Class Dates: April 27, May 18, June 15, July 13, August 24, September 28
What You’ll Learn:
Led by Jessica Aleman, MSEd, CCC-SLP, we cover everything that matters:
When to Start: How to spot the signs that your baby is actually ready.
Your Options: Both baby-led weaning and purees work. I show you how to do both, or mix them in a way that fits your family.
Keeping Feeding Safe: Real talk about choking vs. gagging, how to prepare foods safely, and what actually matters.
Allergens Without Fear: A clear, step-by-step guide to introducing the top 9 allergens so you know exactly what to do.
Nutrition Your Baby Needs: Which first foods pack the most nutrition, and why it matters more than you think.
Gear That Actually Helps: Honest recommendations on high chairs, utensils, cups, and other tools that make mealtimes easier.
Who Should Come:
You, and your baby (ages 6-10 months). Your baby will be safe and comfortable in a provided floor seat.
What I Ask (Safety First):
For your baby to participate in tasting during class, they should be able to:
1. Sit with steady head and neck control (no slouching)
2. Show real interest in food or watch others eating
3. Bring their hands or toys to their mouth on their own
